The island of Vir

Vir is one of approximately 300 islands and islets of Zadar archipelago, situated in the Sea of Vir in NW part of Dalmatia.

The distance to Zadar is 25 km. The seaboard of Vir amounts to 31,43 km.

The coastline of the island is full of wonderful bays and natural sandy beaches suitable for swimming, small boat mooring etc.

A peculiarty is the islet of Školjić, situated in the immediate vicinity of the bridge that connects Vir with the mainland. The islet is covered with thick pine forest and boasts a long sandy beach.

Yearly Vir enjoys 300 sunny days, while pleasant breeze from Velebit mountain cools the temperature during summer nights which makes the island one of the favourite sites for the surfers and yachters.

The ancient croatian regal town of Nin, 3000 years old Zadar, the national parks Kornati (over 200 islands), the waterfalls of Krka, Plitvice and Paklenica on Velebit are all within a relatively short distance from Vir, which makes the island an excellent starting point for short-term excursions and ancient cities sightseeing.
